Oliver Anthony
by Jaxon Golday
A previously unknown country singer suddenly topped the Billboard 100 seemingly overnight. Singer Oliver Anthony’s song “Rich Men North of Richmond” beat out other popular artists such as Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen. The song resonated with many of its listeners through its lyrics about the hardships faced by the working class and the state of the current political climate. The climb to the top of the charts can be attributed to the many political figures such as Matt Walsh and Jack Posobiec. Even though a majority of the supporters are right-leaning Anthony has stated that he’s “dead center down the aisle on politics”. Anthony’s song isn’t meant to lean one way or the other on politics. It’s meant to address universal concerns regarding the issues faced today in society and how politicians aren’t focused on the right issues.
