Smart Makes SEC History

Story by Gabby Major

Georgia’s head football coach, Kirby Smart, marks a new SEC record for most victories in 100 games. As of this past Saturday, September 23, Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs have won 86 college football games in the last 100. Smart states, “It’s one of those things if you do a good job and recruit good players and you have a good organization and good support, it allows you to make it to that number.” The Bulldogs defeated the UAB Blazers 49-21 on Saturday, bringing Smart’s record to 85-15 in only his eighth season at UGA. Smart then comments, “And certainly want to go out and play our best game at that mark.” With that said, the Bulldogs are certainly not finished. After the game this weekend, they are 4-0 with plenty of games left to play in the season, potentially making Smart’s record higher in the near future. The Bulldogs next game will be against the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, September 30 at 2:30 pm.
