Boys Soccer vs Apollo (Story and Gallery)

Last night, Henderson boys soccer took on Apollo at Colonel Field. The game started off as a back and forth defensive battle, with neither team being able to score. With 27:39 left in the first half, Apollo was the first to strike, taking a 1-0 lead. The Colonels bounced back with a goal from Adam Williams with 13 minutes to go in the 1st half, tying the game 1-1. Henderson stayed on the attack for the remainder of the 1st half but didn’t get another goal before halftime.

Henderson began the second half with a goal from Cameron Vick, pushing the Colonels’ lead to 2-1. Apollo wasn’t allowed many offensive opportunities due to a solid Colonel defense. Alex Bowley scored with 15 minutes left, extending the lead to 3-1. Henderson grabbed 2 more late goals in the final 3 minutes of the match, and those goals were scored by Jack Gentry and Adam Williams. The Colonels’ won the game 5-1 over the Eagles and will be traveling to Caldwell County on August 24th for their next match.
