The FIFA 2023 Women’s World Cup came to a close on Sunday as Spain took on England in the final. The game was nothing short of exciting, as both teams had never won a World Cup before. Spain took the lead early on off of a goal from Olga Carmona, who captains the squad. As the game progressed, so did the tension between the two sides. In the second half, Spain earned a penalty, but English goalkeeper Mary Earps saved it to keep the score 1-0. England fought long and hard to find the back of the net but just couldn’t do it. After an intense 90 minutes, Spain was crowned champions of the world.
