Sports Opinion: Who Will Win the Super Bowl?

Some of our sports journalists were asked to make some predictions about how the NFL playoffs will progress and who will take home the Lombardi trophy this year.

Aiden Fleck--

The NFL playoffs are right around the corner, with the list of Super Bowl contenders becoming clearer. The AFC is led by the Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and Kansas City Chiefs. Meanwhile, the NFC is led by the San Francisco 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dallas Cowboys. I predict that the AFC champions will be the Baltimore Ravens, and the NFC champions will be the San Francisco 49ers facing off in Super Bowl LVIII. I believe the Ravens will win the AFC because they have been the most complete team all year. They have gone 10-3 this year, with all losses being within one score. Their main weapons are their defense, which ranks as one of the best in the league, and a running attack on offense. With all these strong suits and an off-year for powerhouse Kansas City, I see the Baltimore Ravens winning the AFC. The 49ers have been one of the most impressive teams all year. They have the most complete roster in the league, with their offense and defense ranked in the top three. They have also already beat other NFC contenders this year in blowout games. If these teams meet in the Super Bowl, the score would be 34-26 in favor of the San Francisco 49ers, winning their sixth ring. The 49ers have easily been the most complete team, and it's hard to see anyone being able to take them down in the playoffs. While the game will be close, the 49er's combination of a ferocious defense and powerful will be enough to win the Super Bowl.

James Murphy--

This Super Bowl would make an incredibly interesting one. The last time the Miami Dolphins made a Super Bowl was in 1984; weirdly enough, they lost to the San Francisco 49ers 38-16. The 49ers appeared in a Super Bowl in 2019, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs 31-10. If I were betting on the game, I’d pick the 49ers to win it. Luckily for me, I’m not old enough to bet yet. I believe that the Miami Dolphins will win the 2023-24 season Super Bowl. The Dolphins are very well put together and probably the most individually talented team in the league. If the Dolphins stay healthy, they have the weapons to win it all.

Josh Thompson--

I think the San Francisco 49ers will win Super Bowl 58. They have shown a lot of strength and a very good mentality. Their 3 losses came early in the season, and they were all back to back to back. They have shown unbelievable progression and have destroyed the two teams close to first in the NFC. In last year's NFC championship game, the San Francisco 49ers played the Philadelphia Eagles. Brock Purdy got injured very early in the game, evidently ending their season. He has shown great potential throughout the season and can be a tag-worthy quarterback for the franchise. He has shown that he can step up and win big games in big moments. He has played both the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys and then blew the break off of both. They want their Super Bowl, and I believe they have what it takes this year if Brock Purdy can stay healthy.

Brazen Zimmerman--

My current prediction for the NFL Playoffs is the Baltimore Ravens & the Dallas Cowboys finding their way to the #1 seed. I say the Eagles don't get the #1 seed because they have lost to 2 Super Bowl contenders in a blowout fashion 2 weeks in a row. For the Cowboys to get the #1 seed, they need both the 49ers and Eagles to lose one more game, and the Cowboys need to win out with their opponents being Buffalo away, Dolphins away, Lions home, and Commanders away. I feel like if Dak keeps on playing the way he is and the defense can keep on forcing turnovers, this may be the Cowboys year.

Aaron Brown--

The season is almost over, and now there are some dominant teams that I see in the Super Bowl. These teams are the Ravens and the 49ers. There are multiple reasons why I think that the 49ers will beat the Ravens and that they will both enter the Super Bowl. It is not because of the colors of the Superbowl this year(purple and red), it is because of the way these teams are record, stat, and talent-wise.

Week 13 is the week I realized the Niners were the top team in the league and its nowhere close to anyone else. Their record is currently in Week 13 was 10-3, and their losses are from the Browns, Vikings, and the Bengals. However, these were all at the beginning of the season and have since been on a roll. The teams they beat prove it, especially the win over the Eagles last week. On the other hand, the Ravens have the same current record but have lost to my Colts, the Browns (again), and the Steelers. They have had some impressive wins, and I see them winning out the season.

Secondly, their stats are team and individual-wise. These teams are equally explosive, talent-filled, and tough for the NFL. The stats, not just individual but team, are quite good for each team. The 49ers are all-around with some of their stats, including 3rd and 4th in rushing and passing. Finally, they are in a close second with Total yards per game.

Lastly, The teams have talent like no other. Lamar Jackson, former MVP and the elusive defense of the Ravens, versus the strongest wide receiver core and Christian Mcaffery as well as Fred Warner and the Niners’ tough defense. This game is bound to be amazing if it ever happens.
