On Tuesday, January 9th, the Henderson County Colonels faced off against the Christian County Colonels at home in a big regional matchup. Both teams are favored to win the region championship. Both teams start the game with physicality, drawing early fouls from Christian County's number 21, Derrell Bateman, and Henderson County’s number 14, Elijah Suggs. Henderson’s Cooper Davenport’s first shot of the first quarter broke Henderson’s Kyle Chapman’s 30-year three-point record. Christian County continued playing physically throughout the game, pressing the Henderson County Colonels and not allowing easy fast break opportunities. Henderson managed to overcome the press during the second half. The game came down to the wire as Alec Satterfield caught an inbound pass and launched it down the court to Max Thompson under the basket for an easy layup, giving the Colonels a 60-58 lead with 9.7 seconds remaining. Christian County got the ball at half-court after a time-out. When they inbounded the ball, Max Thompson deflected it into the backcourt, and the Henderson County Colonels ran off to win this one 60-58.
